Food & Drink Online Review

An nice review from Food and drink online. “An Indian fine dining experience with Bangladeshi influences, Mint Leaf is a modern, smart and comfortable restaurant located between Chesterfield and Sheffield. It is popular with inhabitants of both, as well as with locals, visitors to the Peak District and the occasional celebrity.

Savouring my perfectly marinated Rajastani hot chicken wings and stealing some deliciously soft sheekh kebab from my companion’s mixed kebab starter, it was easy to understand Mint Leaf’s popularity. The outstanding food aside, the restaurant is spacious, yet an intimate atmosphere prevails. Private dining is available for small and large parties, and, conveniently, there is plenty of free parking.
Our jhal jinga main course delivered an abundance of king prawns in a spicy, tangy sauce with onions, peppers and chillies. The shobuz masala boasted sublimely tender and flavoursome lamb in a rich, well-spiced sauce. A buttery, garlicky tarka daal made an ideal accompaniment, along with vegetable rice, mushroom rice and a decadent keema and cheese naan bread. This was remarkable, high-end food at pleasing prices.

As we finished, I was already planning a return visit to try more of the innovative dishes on the menu, and to take advantage of the specially created wine list with suggested dish pairings – one of many smart touches that sets this restaurant apart”.
